We are considering leaving in late December (sale of house and business dictate this late departure) from Toronto and driving to the southern USA (Utah area) with our winterized travel trailer in tow. I am looking for suggestions on the following:
– how far south should we go before de-winterizing the trailer?
– what route should we take?
– any areas we should avoid (construction, etc.)?
This will be the beginning of our “full-time RV” life so are open to suggestions from those who have blazed a trail before us.
Hi Duncan – have posted this and will send it along to my Facebook page to see if we can get some input. Also I was reading on RV Village today people who were talking about exactly what you are asking. http://www.rvillage.com/home in the Canadian group. We are going south this winter for the first time as “full-timers” as well and really looking forward to it. Our destination is Arizona and we plan on having our fifth wheel winterised before we leave in mid december, going south on I5 and won’t de-winterize it until we arrive in California. It all depends on the weather at the time. Hopefully you will get a response from others in your area.
Looking forward to the information.
I have been a bit slow in updating this page but will definitely be posting helpful stuff in the new year. Thanks.
