Non resident RV sales tax waived?

I read this article today on RV Business and thought it was interesting.  Since many RVs sold in Canada come from Indiana will Canadian dealers not have to pay sales tax? Will those dealers pass on their savings to their customers?  This is definitely something to watch.

Indiana Rep. Tim Neese, R-Elkhart, has authored legislation to boost recreational vehicle sales in both Elkhart County and throughout Indiana. According to a report in the Goshen News, the bill would exempt sales tax of RVs and cargo trailers for nonresident purchasers who take their new RV purchase out of Indiana. read more…

  1. According to a manufacturer we are purchasing from, we will have to pay the sales tax even though we live in TX

    • Is there a way to receive a refund from the state you are purchasing it from? Or a refund when you insure your unit in Texas?

    Canadian dealers like all US dealers do not pay Indiana sales tax when buying from Indiana RV manufactures. This bill applies only to retail buyers.
